Ireland's Language
Two different official languages spoken. Most people in Ireland speak English. Some speak Irish. Under the constitution both languages are official. Irish is the national and first official language. The Irish language is one of several Celtic language. But the Celtic language has died out in most areas. Now it is only survived in Wales, and Scotland. Areas where Irish is the language is called Gaeltacht areas. Major concentrations of Irish speakers are in the western counties of Donegal Mayo, Galway, Kerry and Cork. There are smaller concentration in the countries of Waterford in the south and Meath in the east. It is estimated that 3% of the population speaks Irish with many fluent in the second language
